The Birmingham Urban League (BUL) and NAACP Metro Birmingham Branch are partnering with Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Area II District of Alabama) to hold a series of town hall and community forums in August regarding the upcoming municipal elections. All candidates will be invited to share their platform and vision with the public. The schedule for each district is as follows:
• August 1st will feature candidates from Districts 1 – 3 at Fountain of Life Christian Church
• August 3rd will feature candidates from Districts 4 – 5 at Shields Conference Center
• August 8th will feature candidates from Districts 6 – 7 at Oxmoor Community Center
• August 10th will feature candidates from Districts 8 – 9 at the Crossplex
The mayoral candidates will be presented on August 15th at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and on August 17th at the Boutwell Auditorium. School Board and City Council forums will be held from 6-8 pm with the mayoral events beginning at 5:30pm.
