As the 2018-2019 president of the Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, I am honored and privileged to serve as the leader of the first graduate chapter chartered in the South Eastern Region. Since 1924, our chapter has been impacting the greater Birmingham area through scholarship and community service.
In 1908, more than 110 years ago, Alpha Kappa Alpha became the nation’s first sorority established by African American women, at Howard University in Washington, D. C. Our mission is to be of service to all mankind. Locally, we are committed to working diligently to encourage high scholastic standards, to foster unity and friendship, and to support progressive economic and policy initiatives that empower our community in a positive way.
Over the next two years, I look forward to working with our members, corporate partners and sponsors to serve the surrounding communities and make a difference in the lives of everyone we touch.
